Newfoundland and Labrador’s Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism issued 131 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) on October 9, 2026, the province’s first selection round of the month and its largest since late August.
Of the 131 invitations, 130 went to candidates under the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP), and one went to a candidate under the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP). The Atlantic Immigration Program is employer-driven: candidates need a job offer from a designated Atlantic Canadian employer before they can be considered, which is why AIP volumes tend to stay small.
The October 9 round brings Newfoundland and Labrador’s 2026 total to 2,826 invitations across 17 selection rounds — 2,430 under the NLPNP and 396 through the AIP. The province’s rounds have varied in size through the year, from 445 invitations in the large March and July rounds down to 36 in early September.
Since February 2025, both the NLPNP and the province’s share of the AIP have operated through a single Expression of Interest (EOI) pool. Candidates submit an EOI profile instead of a full application, the province reviews the pool and issues invitations in batches through the year, and the province does not announce round dates in advance. Only invited candidates may submit a complete application.
For candidates, this means keeping an EOI profile active and accurate is the way in — there is no published cut-off score to aim for. Candidates need a job or job offer from an employer in Newfoundland and Labrador, and an ITA does not guarantee approval: the full application is still assessed against program requirements. Candidates nominated through the NLPNP Express Entry Skilled Worker category receive an additional 600 CRS points, which in practice guarantees an invitation in a subsequent federal Express Entry round.
